The karneshie district court has remanded an electrician who happens to be 38 years old.
This man is being held by police on suspicion of strangling his girlfriend, who happens to be in her early 20s in Kpone Bawaleshie, in the Greater Accra Region.
The deceased is reported to have been strangled after Kwame Krampah, also known as Awana, tied her neck from behind with a blue nylon rope, had intercourse with her corpse and then buried it in the area.
The court has decided to maintain Krampah’s plea despite the fact he is being charged with murder.
Ms. Ama Adomako Kwakye, the court’s presider, remanded him to appear on September 5, 2023.
Chief Inspector Margaret O. Boadi, the prosecution’s head, claimed that the accused was a plumber and the complainant, Joyce Agbo, was a trader.
It said that Bawaleshie was home to both the complainant and Krampah.
The mother of the deceased, Judith Kpeglo, was the complainant, according to the prosecution.
The deceased, a student teacher at a school in Kpone Bawaleshie, allegedly went home for work on July 11, 2023, but never returned, according to the prosecutor.
It stated that the plaintiff reported her deceased daughter missing to the police on July 17, 2023.
The prosecution said that intelligence resulted in the boyfriend of the deceased, Krampah, being taken into custody.
It stated that the results of the investigations showed that the deceased went to the accused person’s house to consume meals after leaving the school at around 2:00 p.m. on July 11, 2023.
It said that when the deceased finished her meal, she informed Krampah that she was returning to school and Krampah then attacked the deceased from behind with a blue nylon rope and strangled her for reasons not yet known.
It stated that Krampah dug a grave on a neighbouring plot and buried the body there that same day at around 10:00 p.m.
The prosecution claimed in Krampah’s caution statement that he had confessed to the crime and had guided the police to the location of the suspected burial.
The prosecution informed the court that the body was dug out and placed at the Police Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy after a court order was obtained.
