Outlander season 7’s part 2 is one of the most anticipated series in modern history. Indeed, there is time for another droughtlander.
However, the mid-season finale featured plenty of unexpected travels: Jamie (Sam Heughan), Claire (Caitriona Balfe), and Ian (John Bell) sail for Scotland to rejoin their family after participating in the Second Battle of Saratoga and return Simon Fraser’s (Angus Macfadyen) body to its final resting place. Meanwhile, in the 1980s, Rob Cameron (Chris Fulton) has kidnapped Jem (Blake Johnston-Miller), so Roger (Richard Rankin) and Buck (Diarmaid Murtagh) decide to go through the stones to find Jem.
Jamie participates in the fight before they set sail, taking William’s (Charles Vandervaart) hat off his head (which he subsequently restores). When Claire encounters Benedict Arnold (Rod Hallett), she has a crisis of conscience and decides whether or not to tell him about his betrayal.
When Ian tries to kiss Rachel (Izzy Meikle-Small), she slaps him back, but it’s obvious that she’s attracted to him. This brings Ian his own problems. Rollo is left with her after he makes the decision to depart, and they soon run into Arch Bug (Hugh Ross).
It will be at least six months before we find out what comes next. We spoke with executive producer Maril Davis in the interim, who gave us an explanation of the episode’s events
In this episode, Jamie and Claire get to meet Benedict Arnold. How torn does Claire feel about perhaps forewarning someone about his impending transformation.
She says in the show that even after more than 200 years, people still call turncoats “Benedict Arnolds,” implying that what he did was so terrible. I can’t even begin to comprehend what that must have been like at the time for the moniker to have endured for so long. Claire feels as though she must decide what to say. Was I always a part of that and did I possibly have any influence on Benedict Arnold’s actions?”
She is quite confused. It’s clear she likes him. He is really endearing. To him, what does she say? Why doesn’t she? Could she make a difference there and what role does she have? Must she? Since it’s clear that his actions helped us get to where we are now. I adore that section of the time travel and butterfly effect brainteaser. This conflict is incredibly fascinating.To locate Jem, Roger and Buck search through the stones. How simple or complex could that work be?
It won’t be simple at all. However, I adore Roger and Buck together. It’s a small-scale buddy dramedy from earlier. Together, they have so much fun.
Can we now put all our faith in Buck? as he had previously been a major adversary.
Buck, despite the fact that we have undoubtedly experimented with “What are his motivations? How come he’s here? Although it’s obvious what we witnessed him do that resulted in Roger’s hanging, there’s something about him that I find so endearing in the way Diarmaid portrays him that makes me want to trust him.
All you want to do is think that he has good intentions. He’s family at the end of the day. We’ll explore the causes behind his anxiety when attempting to return, or even whether he is able to do so.
This is what the entire season has been building to. We toyed with Jamie’s issue about being torn between two children as one of the items. He is fighting for the America of his daughter’s future, on the right side of history. However, it also indicates that he is fighting his son from a different side.
Facing him across a gun barrel is his darkest fear. We witness that worst nightmare materialise in episode 8. Jamie is faced with an intriguing conundrum that will be further explored in the second part: he wants to know his son but must keep it a secret; he wants to keep him safe but is aware that he is on the wrong side of history.
