Abena Kyere, an 85-year-old woman was allegedly butchered by Adwoa Adensa, a 55-year-old neighbour, who thought she was a witch.
The incident took place in Enyan Ankukrom, which is located in the Central Region’s Ajumako Enyan Essiam District.
Adwoa Adensa, the accused, reportedly thought Abena Kyere was to blame for her son’s demise many years ago, says the people in the community.
According to reports, on September 28, 2023, Adwoa Adensa broke into Abena Kyere’s house and started butchering her with a machete. To save the victim, family members arrived at the scene quickly.
Abena Kyere was found in a bloody pool after suffering severe injuries. The culprit then run and went into hiding as the victim was transported to the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District Hospital for medical care as she suffered severe cuts that doctors claim could lead to her death.
A manhunt has started for the suspect by the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District Police Command and the Breman Nkwantanum Police Command to find her.
The victim’s family has requested that the police carry out a complete investigation into the incident and make sure that the suspect is made to bear the full wrath of the law.
